How WGYB works

Each week, our volunteer grocery shoppers watch for sales and head out on a mega grocery shopping expedition! After groceries are picked up, they transport the food to the Union Street Church where Church leaders have graciously offered space to store extra groceries and donations. This is also where the packing of bags happen. Volunteers pack 90-100 bags, and drive them to our local schools where they are distributed to children in our community.

mission statement

Many hands make light work. Putting groceries in the homes of our most vulnerable requires many active volunteers fulfilling a variety of roles. Everyone involved has one goal, and that is to remove the fear of hunger from the children in our community. With every bag that is packed, we are one step closer to realizing that goal. With every bag packed, we know there is a child heading home on the weekend to enjoy their time with family.
